My mom needs to chill on her buttons.

The black plastic coating is coming off the recirculation button in the Vue.

Kinja'd!!!

At least it's the only button in the car that it's happening to. I figured the wheel stereo controls would've started before the HVAC controls though.

Ah well, it's 7 years old, I shouldn't expect it to look showroom fresh. Dear god we've owned this car for almost 7 years already!? I still remember picking it up at the dealer.

Speaking of my mom's car, she said she's getting the itch for a new one badly. Talking about leasing something and then "buying" it used. Maybe a CTS! 0: It'll probably end up being an Impala though, which would be okay. She says she wants a car, no SUVs or crossovers.

When my mom drove our Cobalt before my dad now, she actually cut her finger twice on the fake plastic chrome peeling of the insider door handle.

Her dream car is the CTS, and depending on the lease deal she could get it might be possible. I wouldn't complain. I'd just make sure it's a V6 at least.

I'd be okay with the Impala too though. They're nice and roomy and has basically the same V6 that made me fall in love with the Vue.

But, she's also thought about a Volt and a Regal. All over the place, she'd have to sit down and really think about what she wants from a car.

One of the back door handles are doing that in the Vue. I cut my hand on it. Probably should replace it...

For the CTS would it be the NA 3.6 that is in the Impala or the 3.6TT? Either way the 3.6 is a really nice engine, moves the Equinox around well.

doesn't happen to Toyotas, like my 19-yo badge-engineered Camry :p

although many of the bulbs do burn out though :(

It would be a N/A 3.6. I don't think my mom would be capable of controlling 420 horsepower and RWD in the winter. Not to mention the price.

Yeah, that's still a really nice engine. They're still around 300 hp in the CTS right?

Hasn't happened in my 21 year old Safari either :p I think it's her nails that does it.

I'm about 90% sure I still have the original headlight bulbs in the Safari.

Ok, I know the Equinox is around 301 and I think the Impala has 305.

Our Trailblazer's buttons were bubbling, yes they were bubbling up. On our Impala, the dash was peeling and the door panels looked burnt the way they were peeling, even though nobody ever smoked in it.

When you mean peeling do you mean the cheap shitty vinyl stuff GM used to cover their interiors in peeling?

As for the Trailblazer's buttons: Wut. Bubbling?

The plastics were peeling from gray to black. And yes, somehow the buttons would bubble and chip off. They weren't literally breaking, but the outer coat/layer would bubble and come off.

Maybe not the buttons but the 'Aluminum' finish aka cheap looking silver over plastic and their 'wood' finishes do wear of quite easily.

GM cars seem to all have that problem. Our 2005 Suburban and my 2007 Tahoe all have buttons with the coating rubbing off.
